Hi! I'm Sherry Smothermon-Short!
Are you a Cub Scout leader or parent who's looking for Cub Scout ideas? If you are, you've come to the right place!
My husband and I were den leaders, and we know firsthand how much FUN Cub Scouts can be – but also how much time and work it can require.
My goal here at Cub Scout Ideas is to save you tons of time by giving you fun, inexpensive, easy and creative ideas you can use immediately… so you can spend less time on the work and get to focus on the FUN with your Scouts!
We've already done the “research and homework” so I'm passing that on to make it easier on you. Be sure to subscribe by email so you always have creative ideas on hand you can use!
We were den leaders for every rank. I also served as our Pack Committee Chair for several years. Now, I'm our Pack Trainer, and I'm a member of our Council's University of Scouting teaching staff.
I have served as a day camp staff member, assistant director or director since we started Scouting. Now, I work with day camp in an advisory role. I am a huge fan of Cub Scout Day Camps!
I love to find cool projects that fulfill requirements or that are fun for the Scouts. And I especially like it when those projects are cheap to do!
I would love to hear from you about some of your projects too. Just email me at [email protected] or connect with me via social media. I'm on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram.

Thanks a lot for your kind work on this web page.
I am in Valencia, Venezuela with a group of late scouts (many time retired from work) who were looking to find ways to help current scout leaders at unit level.
We are thinking on something like your page.
With free, fun and ready to use ideas and materials.
Your page would be inspiring for us.
Regards

What's the latest word on when the printed handbooks will reflect the most recent (relaxed) requirements? thanks Paul

Hi, Paul! I wish I had better news. The last I heard was that they won't be reprinted until BSA sells all of the current stock, and they don't expect that to happen until some time in 2018. :( You probably saw this, but here are some instructions on how to print the new requirements so they'll fit in the current handbooks.

Do you know why the pdf versions of the boy handbooks in English were removed from BSA's site? I'm not pleased with this sudden development with no forewarning.

Hi, Annette! I spoke with Bob Scott, who is the Cub Scout experience manager for BSA. He said that from what he understood, the English versions were never supposed to be online. I requested that Bob ask if they could be posted again since the books could only be used for less than a year. He said he would ask.
I wish I had a better answer...
