50 of the Most Incredible Blue and Gold Banquet Themes
50 Cub Scout Blue and Gold banquet ideas – Choosing your Blue and Gold decorations and centerpieces is easy when you have a theme.

Most Cub Scout packs have a Blue and Gold banquet in February to celebrate Scouting’s birthday. It’s a great evening of fun for all members of Cub Scout families.
The Blue and Gold banquet does take some planning. There are several excellent planning guides available online. You can find links in this post to several of them.
Your Blue and Gold banquet theme is one of the first decisions that you need to make. An internet search will give you lots of ideas, but to help you out, I decided to compile a list of 50 theme ideas.
This list was compiled from many sources on the internet as well as a couple of my own ideas. Choose your theme, then brainstorm your decorations and activities to match.
Each of these links goes to a source for party supplies for the theme. Even if your Blue and Gold banquet budget doesn’t allow for ordering party supplies, check them out anyway. Looking over them may give you some ideas you can use.

Last year our pack had a Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory themed event, and this year we are planning a Wonderland theme. Anything bright and colorful, with lots of characters and great quotes makes for very easy planning!

I am in the middle of planning a Harry Potter-themed Blue & Gold for my 80-boy pack. It is so much fun coming up with ideas! Since I am a female Cubmaster, we are going to say that Dumbledore is off on top secret Hogwarts business, so Professor McGonnagal is temporarily in charge. 🙂

We are a new pack and didn’t want to spend d a lot of money because we only had 6 boys and no Webelos so we had it at the school cafeteria. We bought ten blue star helium balloons from Dollar tree and a yellow table cloth. We made a yellow carpet and put the balloons alongside it so the boys walked through the balloons. We called them through one at a time and their parents was on the other side with the new neck tie and slide. When the boy came the cub master gave him a plaque(made it from wood, mod podge and a photo sticker $1.25). Then his parent would take the old neck tie off and put the new one on. We’d take a picture and move on to the next kid. We had friendly sundae cups for each kid/sibling/parent and afterwards we played board games. The entire thing cost less than $100, the kids had fun, it was individualized and each kid had a free necktie and slide for the next year, easy cleanup and it wasn’t a headache to plan!

Using a pirate theme is no longer allowed by Cub Scouts. This has been true for several years. I first learned this when I did National Camp School in 2015. Day camps, nor any other scouting activity are allowed to use a pirate themed anymore, because Pirates do not live up to scouting values.
The manager of my local Scout shop is a good friend of mine, and he and was forced to destroy or give away any scouting book that reference Pirates because it is no longer allowed.
