No More Lost Cub Scout Caps with Mabel’s Labels
How many times has your Cub Scout misplaced his cap? How many water bottles have you purchased to replace lost ones? Easily keep up with all your Cub Scout gear by using Mabel’s Labels!
Cub Scouts lose things all the time! After den and pack meetings, I’ve taken home caps, handbooks, jackets, water bottles, craft projects, and more. Day camp is even worse. We wind up taking an entire box of stuff home.
A few months ago, I attended a blogging conference where I met the folks from Mabel’s Labels. It’s a company that makes personalized and waterproof name labels and tags. As they told me about their products, I realized they would be a perfect solution for those easily-lost Cub Scout things!
Mabel’s Labels was kind enough to send me the Day Camp Label Pack and some Iron On Clothes Labels to check out. The Day Camp Label Pack has 16 Mini Custom Name Stickers, 21 Tag Mates, 2 custom Shoe Stickers, and 2 Personalized Bag Tags.
Mabel’s Labels Tag Mates

Tag Mates are little stickers–only 13/16″ x 3/8″. They’re made to be put on the care/size labels on clothes. But my first thought when I saw them was that they would be great to put on a Cub Scout cap. You can put them on the care tag that’s on the cap. But what do you do if your son cut the tag off like mine did? Simply put it on the underside of the bill!
Sure, you could use a Sharpie to write your son’s name on the cap, but there’s a huge drawback to that. Some packs have a uniform swap at the beginning of every year where you can bring in your Bear’s old Wolf cap, neckerchief, and neckerchief slide and trade them for Bear ones. But who wants to get a cap that has someone else’s name written on it?
With Mabel’s Labels, you can simply pull off the label with your child’s name on it. I haven’t used my Mabel’s Labels very long, but the folks there tell me that they won’t leave a residue when you remove them. So, whoever gets that Wolf cap won’t have little Johnny’s name written in black Sharpie!
Tip: If you have more than one child who will be a Cub Scout, consider getting labels with just your last name. Put them on once for the entire time your family is involved in Cub Scouting!
I have to tell you that I was a bit skeptical about putting them through the washing machine. I figured I would find the label stuck to the inside of my washer or dryer. I grabbed three shirts from the laundry, stuck labels on the tags, and threw them in the washer then the dryer. They held on beautifully.
Mini Custom Name Stickers

These stickers have so many uses! They’re perfect for handbooks. But an even better use for them is to label your Cub Scout’s water bottle. I can’t tell you how many unclaimed water bottles I brought home when I was a day camp director. Slap one of these waterproof and dishwasher safe stickers on there, and no more lost bottles!
Personalized Bag Tags
The bag tags are shaped like military dog tags. They come with a little chain which makes them perfect for hanging on lunch boxes or backpacks.
Create Your Own Mabel’s Labels
When you order your labels, you have several options. You can choose multicolor or solid color labels. Next, your child can choose his or her favorite icon. Grant chose a tennis racquet because he recently started taking tennis lessons. There are quite a few options including that silly poop emoji! Then choose the font and layout for your labels. This helps make them totally unique to your kiddo.
Medical Labels and Allergy Stickers
Mabel’s Labels has a myriad of products other than just the ones I’ve talked about here that you’ll want to check out. I did want to tell you about two other products that I think are super important–Medical Labels and Allergy Stickers.
The Medical Labels have plenty of room to list your child’s condition, some details, and contact information for you or your child’s doctor. The Allergy Stickers are preprinted alerts for eight of the most common allergies.
Mabel’s Labels Fundraiser
If your pack is looking for a super simple fundraiser, consider the Mabel’s Labels fundraiser program. Simply sign up, and share your special link with friends and family. When they place an order, your pack gets 20% of the sale!

These are awesome. These could be used on class b shirts, towels, hats, clothes, and so much more. At camp these would help by putting the boys name and the pack number. I like these a lot!

These labels will be great, I’d put them on everything from my son’s backpack to his scout cap and neckerchief (we’re always losing that!). Oh and water bottles, lunch bags, I could go on and on and on!

Why, their glow-in-dark Nalgenes, of course! If only because both my grandsons have one and they fight over whose is whose.

I love the bag tags! My son leaves a trail of items through the camp, so these will be handy for water bottles, caps, and shirts.

We have 5 in our family involved in scouting and this would be wonderful to help distinguish class B shirts!

I’d put it on everything that went to camp. Kids lose things and camp is always bad, as a camp staff the things that get left behind and never claimed is crazy.

If you can name it, a scout will lose it. These labels are perfect for just about anything! Water bottles for sure, but mess kits, packs, sleeping bags, troop t shirts… I am going to need so many! Ha ha

My son needs these for his scout bag–our homemade, drawstring backpack made from Emoji fabric he picked out!

This is a wonderful idea! I think putting one of theses labels on my pack’s Class B t-shirts would be quite a help. We’ve had several boys misplace their t-shirts while on camping trips and yes the water bottles too!
