Math on the Trail, a Webelos Elective Adventure
The Webelos Cub Scout handbook says,”In this Adventure, you will learn how to estimate the time it takes you to take a walk. If you know your pace, you can estimate how long it will take you and others to walk any given distance.”
Read on for the requirements and ideas you can use to complete them.
Requirements:
- Determine your walking pace by walking ¼ mile. Make a projection of how long it would take you to walk 2 miles.
- Walk 2 miles and record the time it took you to complete them.
- Make a projection of how long it would take you to hike a 20-mile trail over two days. List all the factors to consider for your projection.
