Fun Cub Scout Awards Presentation

Cub Scout Awards Presentation with Frisbee

I have a confession to make.  Our pack has traditionally been a “baggie and a handshake” pack, meaning that we typically hand out our awards by shaking hands with the boy as we hand him a baggie.  My goal has been to change that.

I have been researching possibilities, and I read about a great idea using Frisbees.  Unfortunately, I can't remember where I first read about it, so I can't give proper credit.

We put the awards in a baggie and taped it to the bottom of a Frisbee.  We drafted one of our dads to throw the Frisbee to the boys.  Since we had never tried this before, the dad stood fairly close to the boys.

Frisbees for Cub Scout Award Ceremony
These Frisbees are available from Amazon through my affiliate link.

You'll need several Frisbees for this.  I had 10 that I purchased at the Target Dollar Spot for a different project (it is dangerous for me to enter that place!), but you really don't need that many–three or four should work fine.

After the boys catch the Frisbee and remove their awards, have a parent collect and “reload” them with the awards for the next group of boys.

The boys LOVED this!  In fact, a couple of them said that it was the most fun thing they had done this year in Cub Scouts!

You can watch some of the action in this video!

Do you have any Journey to Excellence Certificates already made that we could print out and something for chartering on time?
