A while ago, we talked about being aware of any food allergies that your Cub Scouts may have. I really hate when a boy has to be excluded from a snack or activity because he is allergic to an ingredient. With just a little planning, you can ensure that all of the boys in your den can participate in all of the activities.
This year, we have a Scout who is allergic to dairy. When we decided to do the armpit fudge activity, I knew I would need to make some accommodations for him. My boys and I made a practice batch at home and discovered that the consistency was more like frosting than fudge. So, I simply googled “dairy free frosting” to find a recipe that I could modify.
