How to Make Fun Treats with Scout Law Candy Wrappers

Scout Law candy wrapper kits make awesome treats for your next Cub Scout event. Find out what supplies you need and how to make these adorable gifts.

Scout Law Candy Wrappers

Did you know that you can find cool Cub Scout stuff on Etsy? There's everything from Blue and Gold and Pinewood Derby Cub Scout printables to Arrow of Light plaques to bracelets for moms and even vintage Cub Scout collectibles.

I shared one of the cool printables that helps the Scouts learn things like the Scout Oath and Law, the Leave No Trace principles, and the Outdoor Code. Another awesome Etsy find is this printable Scout Law candy wrapper kit.

There are so many things you can use these wrapped Hershey's nuggets for! They can be favors for your Blue and Gold banquet or treats for your leaders or gifts for potential new Cub Scouts during your joining event.

I think they would be awesome treats for your day camp volunteers, but you would need to figure out the best time to hand them out. Chocolate and hot weather aren't the best combination. 🙂

Cub Scout Candy Wrapper Printable

The printable has four pages. The first page has 3 sets of nugget wrappers. Each wrapper has two points of the Scout Law, so you'll need 6 nuggets for each package.  This page is designed to be printed on regular printer paper.

The second page (which should be printed on cardstock) has trays that you can put the nuggets on to make them slide easily into the cello bag.

The trays do take a lot of ink, so you can make them from any color cardstock rather than printing them.

The third page gives you six foldable toppers only.

The last page is a set of 12 toppers.  You don't need to fold these. They are perfect to hang from any kind of bag.

Supplies You'll Need

Hershey's nuggets (6 for each package)

Printer paper

Cardstock

Pretzel-sized cellophane bags (approx. 2″ x 10″)

Scissors or paper cutter

Tape

Bone folder (optional)

How to Assemble

Print the first page, and cut out each wrapper.  Since I can't cut in a straight line, I use my trusty paper cutter.  Wrap each one around a nugget and tape in place.

Next, make the paper trays to hold the nuggets.  Print the second page on card stock so it'll hold its shape.

Fold these along the white line that divides the patterns.  I use my bone folder and a ruler to make a nice crease in the paper.

One note.  Printing these uses a lot of ink. Another option is to use colored card stock. The dimensions of the printed tray are 6″ x 2 7/16″ with each fold being 7/16″.

There's some wiggle room with these dimensions. The nuggets are about 1 5/16″, so as long as the middle part of the tray is wider than that, you'll be good. Personally, I have trouble with the whole sixteenths business, so I would round up to half an inch.

Crease and fold the topper.  Place the nuggets on the tray and slide it into the bag.  You may need to cut off part of the bag if it's too long.

Fold the top of the bag down and staple the topper onto the bag.

If you're making a lot, set up an assembly line. You could have your Cub Scout help you, but it might be fun to invite a couple of Cub Scout parents over to help you!

The Person that created this file doesn't have this listed in Etsy any longer. Is there any way I could get a copy? Or I would be happy to pay for the file if you could send me her contact info?

These are awesome. Is it possible to make them in Boy Scout colors vice Cub Scout colors?
